Fundango
Background:
The Fundango (By Great Planes) was my first electric airplane. I bought the kit for $32.00 in the summer of 2011 and initially installed the included size 400 brushed motor with 3:1 gearbox and a 9.6V NiCd battery. However, the NiCd battery made the plane too heavy, so I upgraded to a Lithium Polymer battery and ESC. I had a lot of fun with this plane, but I crashed it when I tried to perform a roll too close to the ground. I really liked the way this plane flew, so I decided to repair it. I didn't want to build another balsa wing, so I took this opportunity to build a hot wire foam cutter. I also upgraded the motor system to a 18T TowerPro brushless motor and a 3S 850 mAh LiPo battery.
